Have you ever had a situation where you are getting ready for the day and want to wear some jewelry but when you look inside of your jewelry box you find that your necklace chain is tangled or one of your favorite earrings is missing? This used to happen to me often. Its so frustrating!!
I decided that there must be an easier way to store my jewelry. I looked online and found some very nice display/storage items but they were all very pricey. Therefore, being the frugal person I am, I decided to see what I had around the house that I could use to make one myself.
I found an old bulletin board from the days my kids were in school and I thought about using pushpins as a “hook” for each necklace. That way I could keep them separate and even see what I had available when deciding on my outfit for the day!
Now what to do about the earrings? I found a piece of Aida Cloth (cross stitch fabric) and I had the idea to use it as an earring holder since the earrings could be stuck through the holes in the cloth and secured on the back with the earring back. It worked great! Another great idea is if you want to take some earrings with you on a trip, all you need to do is roll up the cloth with the earrings intact and put it in your suitcase!
I then saw that I could combine the two things and create a complete, one stop place to store my jewelry and be able to see everything in order to mix and match items according to my outfit for the day!
This has been working very well for me. I can find things, keep my necklaces tangle free and actually see what I have to use. And best of all, it was free!!!
